Objective

Pharmaceutical (logistics) companies must comply with GDP guidelines, which ensure that pharmaceutical products are handled, stored and distributed in a way that ensures their quality, safety and efficacy. For all companies in Europe and those operating globally, it is crucial to implement high-quality GDP training to meet regulatory requirements and promote the safe distribution of pharmaceutical products to patients.

As a manager of a company that offers pharma supply related services you should also be aware of the GDP guidelines and how to act accordingly. The responsibility for the management of the Pharmaceutical Quality System (also called QMS) lies with the management.

They set the vision and direction of the organization and provide the necessary resources to promote a culture of quality. Because the quality system must be aligned with business needs, the Management Review provides an excellent opportunity for management to assess the QMS.

The task of ensuring that the QMS is assessed annually for effectiveness lies with the QA department together with management. The objectives achieved are evaluated and new objectives must be set. During these sessions, the progress of the multi-year plan is also discussed.

All this in the context of continuous improvement of the processes, products and the quality system itself. The Product Quality Review (PQR) serves a similar purpose and assesses, among other things, the consistency and adequacy of the current processes.

The adequacy of the current specifications for starting materials and end products is also examined. Together, these two assessments form the basis for identifying areas for improvement for process and product. Good understanding and organization are required to make the assessments as efficient as possible.

GDP training ensures that the quality of pharmaceutical products is maintained throughout the supply chain, from the manufacturer to the end user. It focuses on proper distribution practices, storage conditions and transportation methods to prevent contamination, mix-ups and damage.
